Aerocar Workshop in Portugal
06/02/2019 @ 2:00 - 6:00
On the 6th of February, INEGI will present, at an event to be held in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), the prototype developed in the scope of AEROCAR project.
The prototype is a car seat produced by Sheet Moulding Compound (SMC) that now includes Carbon Fibre prepreg reinforcements, typically used in aeronautic structures. The mechanical properties have been improved, while reducing the overall car seat weight and improving the aesthetics of the visible structural parts.
A detailed discussion will be held about the major technical issues but also on the impact this new technology will have on the receiving company, INAPAL Plásticos S.A..
Other examples of manufacturing technologies for composite materials, that can be used in both Automotive and Aeronautic components and structures, will also be presented and discussed at a detailed technical level.
To conclude, a discussion on funding mechanisms for technology transfer between sectors will be done at a round table with representatives of several Portuguese funding institutions.
