Project
The AEROCAR project aims to create a technology transfer network between aeronautic and automotive sectors. Collaboration between these two sectors will improve productivity through the creation of new technologies, materials or processes, or through the transfer of these latter from one sector to another. This will benefit not only the participating companies but all the professionals in the sector that will have easy access to the results of the project.
Through the collaboration of companies and technology centres of both automotive and aeronautic sectors in Portugal, France and Spain, a wide range of techniques, knowledge and resources will be available to make possible the development of the project efficiently and with effective results. The project will focus on key challenges in both sectors such as the use of new materials and the automation of processes.
The technologies to be developed will be selected so that the automotive sector applies its technologies to the problems of the aeronautical sector and vice versa. This method will make it possible to reach the full potential of the existing technologies and will make technology transfer easy. In the same way, companies from both sectors will participate in the project by collaborating in the selection of the most viable products and prototypes so that they can become products that can be effectively applied to the manufacturing processes.
From the territorial point of view, the project will contribute to boost the development of 2 strategic sectors in the SUDOE area for their high potential for innovation and creation of added value jobs as are the automotive and aeronautical sectors.
It is about developing new solutions that respond to the common needs of companies from both sectors in the SUDOE area.
Moreover, the development of the project from a transnational perspective will allow a greater scope of the results of the project due to a larger number of companies that take advantage of the cross-sector existing synergies and integrate value chains.

Objectives
AIM OF AEROCAR PROJECT
The main objective of the AEROCAR project is to promote the technological transfer between the aeronautical sector and the automotive sector. It seeks to enhance the existing synergies between two key strategic sectors of the SUDOE area that are identified in the Strategies of Intelligent Specialization. Besides, there is a transfer between more advanced regions in R&D and other regions that are less developed in the matter.
FAVOUR THE TECNOLOGICAL TRANSFER
The project aims to favour the technological transfer between 2 leading R & D sectors in the SUDOE area.
The project will identify which fields (materials and processes) may be a greater potential for transferability.
It is about identifying common areas of work that facilitate the transfer of knowledge between both aeronautical and automotive sectors.
DEVELOPMENT OF NEW SOLUTIONS TECNOLOGICALLY APLICABLE
In order to facilitate an effective transfer of technology and knowledge between sectors, it is planned to develop 4 new technological solutions (prototypes) in each of both sectors that are based on technologies, knowledge, materials or processes usually employed in the other sector.
Thus, the transfer would be translated into tangible results directly applicable in each of the sectors.
TRANSFER THE RESULTS TO THE COMPANIES
Finally, the project aims to validate the new developed technological solutions, testing the results with the business sector.
This process should result in an effective transfer of knowledge between the technology centres involved in the project.

It has a team of highly qualified researchers dedicated to research, technological development and innovation, specialized in Polymer Technology. They are also part of the project of Lea Artibai Ikastetxea S.Coop. and the MONDRAGON Corporation.
Leartiker is specialized in new polymeric materials and in advanced processes related to them. It offers advanced mechanical characterization, product design and development, and simulation services. Hence, it has leading infrastructures in the area of technologies such as a pilot plant compounding with equipment to make mixtures and additives thermoplastics, and several specialized laboratories of characterization of materials and advanced mechanics, rubber mixtures and metrology.
CTAG is a private Spanish non-profit technological center dedicated to supporting the transport industry in its research, development and innovation needs.
The key competency fields where CTAG concentrates its activities are: new materials, new manufacturing processes, mathematical calculus and simulation, component testing and analysis of the performances, environment, electronics, ergonomics, comfort and management of the innovation.
With a team of more than 550 professionals, 75% of whom are engineers and doctors, CTAG is the ideal partner for the development of new innovative products for the transport sector. Furthermore, it has three buildings equipped with the latest test laboratories: climate, vibration and acoustics, fatigue, materials, motor, electronics and ergonomics, all equipped with the latest technology and equipment, such as two triaxial agitators integrated in acoustic, climatic chambers, etc.
INEGI is an institute of new technologies, designed to carry out technological activities of investigation and innovation and to transfer technology orientated to the industrial sector.
Their participation in projects in the area of Aeronautical Engineering has increased in recent years, especially in the field of composite materials, Experimental Mechanics, and product development. They have also worked in other sectors in the construction of prototypes and pre-series, in the development of new materials and the design of new structures.
INEGI has a very exhaustive set of means to support its activity. It has laboratories for the execution of experimental works, workshops to develop components and pre-series and a wide range of software tools to support the engineering work such as 3D CAD, CAE, etc.
Rescoll is an innovative SME, better defined as a research company specializing in composite materials and polymers. Its activities are industrial research and development of innovative processes and products.
Rescoll is conducting innovative research in the field of industrial polymer applications (composite, adhesive, varnishes, coatings, etc.) and other related fields.
Moreover, they intensively worked in the development of advanced composite technologies and they equipped a laboratory with specific instruments to study the processing and analysis of plastics. Thanks to the projects that they carried out, Rescoll has a team with a great experience in the formulation and analysis of composite materials.
Their technical knowledge, their quality system and their material resources (advanced technological equipment) make that Rescoll is the unique laboratory in Europe for the characterization of materials.
